An Englishman asked Sheikh Ahmed Deedat:
Why don’t Muslim women greet men and shake hands with them?
The Sheikh replied beautifully, saying to him: Can anyone greet Queen Elizabeth and shake hands with her in Britain?
The Englishman said: There is a law that defines seven types of people that the law allows them to do so.
The Sheikh replied: We also have eleven completely specific types that are permissible for them:
- the father .
- And grandfather.
- And the husband.
- And the father-in-law.
- And the son.
- And the brother.
- And uncle.
- And uncle.
- A nephew.
- And the nephew.
- And the son of the son.
- The son of the girl.
Just as you do that out of respect and reverence for the queen, we have (in Islam) all women are queens and every queen has a courtiers to greet her and shake hands with them, and the rest of the men for her are a people.
